WAAAAAIIIIITTTTT!!! Don't turn off yet. It is SUPER exciting to be a voter here in Ohio. Why?
Ohio is what is called a "swing state." A swing state is a state that can either vote Republican or Democrat. Swing states are usually the states that determine the outcome of an election.
E.g. Utah is most definitely, unequivocally Republican (conservative). We don't need an election to know that Mitt Romney will win Utah. Score 1 for Romney.
Conversely, Massachusetts is a liberal state. It is 99% certain that Massachusetts will vote for Obama. No election needed there to know the outcome.
But Ohio can go either way- and that is why Obama and Romney are contesting heavily in Ohio and other swing states (such as Nevada, Florida).
And it is a great time to be in Ohio! Hence:
(This was at my school! Too bad I wasn't there! And whether you like him or not, you have to admit that Obama is a really likeable person.)
And,
This was a Romney-Ryan rally at (where else?!) Powell, Ohio. This one, I was there! In fact, there is a huge story behind this and I'm going to save that for later.
For someone like me who am somewhat interested in politics, it is a GREAT time to be in Ohio.
And before someone feels disgruntled about my post title, I'm just quoting someone else. Not that you shouldn't go out and vote even if you are not in a swing state. Voting is the minimum civic duty of every citizen. Besides, you never know when your vote will count (think, Singapore's recent election that kicked George Yeo out!). But *erhem* I have to (humbly) agree that "your vote matters more in Ohio."
