Then I came to graduate school, and spiraled into very mild depression. Nothing too serious and fortunately, I did not need medical help. With the help of family, friends, and church leaders, I was blessed to overcome my depression (for now). However, the experience sobered me to the sense of hopelessness and frustrations that people with depression face. Even today, I still don't quite know how to help these friends, except to "be there" for them (and "being there" is such an abstract concept).
May we have the patience, understanding and wisdom to help those who are courageously fighting this battle everyday.
Heavenly Father has repeatedly put people with depression and other mental health issues into my life, including in my family. I joke He did so to make me patient and kind.
